Hardcover. Condizione: Fair. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover in overall good shape with general wear. Binding firm and square. There is a splotch on first blank page where the glue dried and the previous owners bookplate fell off. Discolorations to cover from tape that darkened. Clean throughout.

Octavo, cloth-backed boards. First edition. The author's scarce second novel, a dark suspense thriller set in Ontarion, an imaginary small town in Iowa. In the mid-1970s, American novelist David Rhodes (b. 1946) published three acclaimed novels in quick succession ending with ROCK ISLAND LINE (1975). A motorcycle accident in 1977 left him paralyzed and he didn't publish again for three decades. In 2008 Rhodes published DRIFTLESS, a novel that "recreates the human condition as a condition of Wisconsin life, Words, Wisconsin to be specific, an imaginary hamlet off the map in the southwestern portion of Wisconsin, the regions known in geological terms as the driftless zone." - Alan Cheuse. His most recent novel is JEWELWEED (2013). Tiny BTP sticker on the front paste-down, else a fine copy in fine dust jacket with mild vertical crease in fore-edge of front flap.
