These poems provide a humor-filled look at historical events, social customs, and daily life. Arranged into five sections, the verse travels through several transitions in the poet's life. Some were written as good-natured fun with friends while others are satirical attacks on specific people. The author's varied experiences in the military and as a settler in a new land give the poems a wider perspective. The themes explored in the poetry include war, courtship, politics, and the foibles of human nature. Throughout the collection, the author uses diverse verse forms, including heroic couplets, sonnets, and traditional ballad stanzas. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. …
