This book presents the ideas of the author on the treatment of rhetoric by ancient Greek critics and especially by the Alexandrian literary scholar Caecilius of Calacte. The author discusses how the author interpreted the work of major Greek orators like Demosthenes and Lysias through the lens of critical and rhetorical theory, and how this approach influenced later scholars. Through textual analysis and the presentation of numerous fragments from Caecilius' writings, the book provides a valuable overview of ancient Greek rhetorical criticism and its impact on the development of the field.
