Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book describes the April 29, 1891 consecration of the church in the Laurentides town of St. Lin. The volume is comprised of reports and accounts from major Montreal newspapers covering the events, from the invitation sent to clergy in the Montreal archdiocese to the dedication ad…dress given by the town's mayor. Those in attendance included three visiting bishops, the Archbishop of Montreal, various clergy members, and the St. Lin mayor. Additional to the church consecration, an altar was dedicated to Saint Joseph and the Blessed Virgin Mary by Sherbrooke and St. Hyacinthe's bishops. Following the dedication, a procession with relics took place, which travelled from the convent to the church and circled the building, with a crowd singing hymns and prayers. The author provides details about the interior design of the church, including the vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows, as well as the many statues and paintings that adorn the building. This work is a valuable resource for understanding the history and significance of the St. Lin church and its place within the larger context of religious architecture and devotion in the late 19th century Montreal area.
