Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book chronicles the illustrious career of Prussian military strategist and theorist Carl von Clausewitz. Serving in various staff roles, Clausewitz bore witness to the incompetence and ill-preparedness of the Prussian army during Napoleon's invasion of 1806. His experiences during this catastrophic defeat led him to develop innovative ideas on military strategy which sought to reshape Prussian military doctrine. Clausewitz's theories were influenced by contemporary thinkers such as Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, and he disseminated his ideas through his writings and his role as a tutor to the Prussian Crown Prince. He believed that morale was of paramount importance in warfare, and he emphasized the need for a strong national commitment to military preparedness. Clausewitz's work had a profound impact on military thinking, and his ideas continue to be studied and debated by military strategists today.
