First edition, thus, of this famed account of voyaging through the Hudson's Bay outposts along the Great Lakes, into Canada, down the Saskatchewan River and Athabasca River, into the Pacific Northwest. On both his trips he painted and sketched Native Americans, and the more than 100 paintings he completed are still considered invaluable primary source material. He visited Fort Vancouver, Fort Victoria, stayed with the Cowlitz Indian Tribes, hiked on Mt. Saint Helens, visited and described Walla Walla, and much more.
