The author puts forth that this cult was most likely influenced by other, earlier cultures, particularly the Egyptians. The text further explores the implications this had on the cult's nature, the broader development of the goddess's perceived powers, and its significance to the people who practiced it. The author's meticulous analysis also reveals how the cult evolved over time, eventually becoming a unique expression of Rhodian religious and cultural identity. This book will be of interest to anyone seeking to understand the complex and fascinating religious landscape of the ancient world.
