His diary is, in fact, neither brief nor merely an illustrated record. It is a remarkable insight into the exacting public life led by Britain's foremost ambassador of the arts. There is a mark on the front pastedown where sticky tape has been removed, there is also a large written 'D' on the back pastedown. The dust jacket shows wear to its head at the top of the spine and corners, there is also discoloured sticky tape on the front flap. A good, tight copy.
