A concise and illuminating classic account of the development of English furniture and woodwork from the Gothic of the fifteenth to the classic revival of the early nineteenth centuries. Not much seems to be known about the author, interior design and furniture expert Herbert Cescinsky (b. 1875), apart from the fact that he petitioned for divorce from his wife Gertrude in 1910. Covers by Edmund Gillon Jr (illustratore).
