While standard Tarskian semantics builds on structures with domains and assignments, Leblanc's system rejects reliance on ontological commitments to domains of objects, offering instead a purely syntactic and truth-functional foundation for interpreting logical systems. Across its chapters, the book systematically constructs a semantic framework in which logical constants are defined extensionally via preservation of designated values in matrices. This allows for the development of non-classical logics - such as three-valued and many-valued systems - without the machinery of traditional model theory.
