Paperback. Condizione: Fair. Throughout her intense career, Oriana Fallaci, one of Italy's most notorious recorders of history, has ignited passionate debate amongst politicians, intellectuals, and ordinary citizens both European and American. The genesis for "The Force of Reason" was a postscript entitled "Due anni dopo" ("Two Years Later"), which was intended as a brief appendix to the thirtieth edition of "The Rage and the Pride" (2002). However, once Ms. Fallaci completed the postscript, she decided to expand it into book, a continuation of her ideas set in motion in Rage. In "The Force of Reason", Fallaci takes as her starting point the many attacks and death threats she received after the publication of "The Rage and the Pride". She begins by identifying herself with one Master Cecca, the author of a heretical book who was burnt at the stake seven centuries ago during the Inquisition and proceeds with a rigorous analysis of what she calls the "Fire of Troy," meaning the creation of a Europe that, to her judgment, is no longer Europe but rather Eurabia, a colony of Islam (with Italy as its stronghold). Ms. Fallaci explores her ideas in historical, philosophical, moral, and political terms, courageously addressing taboo topics with logic. A readable copy of the book which may include some defects such as highlighting and notes. Cover and pages may be creased and show discolouration.

This time, in fact, Oriana Fallaci only wanted to write a post~script to The Rage and the Pride: in Italy over one million copies quickly sold and, in the other countries of Europe, a most successful bestseller. But when she concluded the work she realized she had written another book from which still another would arise to compose, her Trilogy on Islam and the West: Oriana Fallaci interviews herself and The Apocalypse. The Force of Reason begins with the execution of Mastro Cecco, a scholar who in 1328 was burnt alive for heresy by the Inquisition because of his books, and ends with the equally heretical Fallaci who seven centuries later is burnt like him in an imaginary auto~da~fe. Between the first and the second stake, a rigorous analysis of what she calls the Burning of Troy: the decay of a Europe which in her view is no longer Europe, it is an Islamic colony named Eurabia. The analysis proceeds through historic and political and moral topics, as usual facing issues that nobody dares to face. Readers will find in it a fountain of ideas expressed also through her person. (Startling the pages about the abuses and the life~threats she bears for her opinions. Unforgettable the chapter where she defines herself as a Christian~atheist. Extraordinary the maturity of thought, the impeccable logic often accompanied by an irresistible sense of humour). And, above all, the courage. The noble heart of a woman who does not know fear. This American edition also contains the brave speech that Fallaci recently gave in New York where she received the «Annie Taylor award» from the Center for the Study of Popular Culture. «No person alive deserves it as much as she does» said the motivation. «She has become the symbol of Resistance to Islamo~fascism, a warrior in the cause of human freedom. Her ferocious determination inspires all of us and we honour her heroism, her valor».

Oriana Fallaci is back with her much-anticipated follow up to The Rage and the Pride, her powerful post-September 11 manifesto. The genesis for The Force of Reason was a postscript entitled Due Anni Dopo (Two Years Later), which was intended as a brief appendix to the thirtieth edition of The Rage and the Pride (2002). Once Ms. Fallaci completed the postscript, she chose to expand it into a book, a continuation of her ideas set in motion in The Rage and the Pride. In The Force of Reason Fallaci takes aim at the many attacks and death threats she received after the publication of The Rage and the Pride. Ms. Fallaci begins by identifying herself with one Master Cecco, the author of a heretical book who was burnt at the stake during the Inquisition seven centuries ago on account of his beliefs, and proceeds with a rigorous analysis of the burning of Troy and the creation of a Europe that, to her judgment, is no longer her familiar homeland but rather a place best called Eurabia, a soon-to-be colony of Islam (with Italy as its stronghold). Ms. Fallaci explores her ideas in historical, philosophical, moral, and political terms, courageously addressing taboo topics with sharp logic. Ref LLL 1.
