The coverage is geographically very wide-ranging, and includes both separately published books and monographs and serial publications (though not bibliographies appearing in periodicals). Classified arrangement (an author index would have been valuable). Besterman's indication of the approximate number of entries contained in each work is particularly useful. Rowman and Littlefield in 18 separate publications gathered all the titles in some of the major fields. The volume on bibliography, library science and reference books includes approximately 1,000 entries.
