In the first section on Erickson's Creativity, Zeig describes the four basic areas in which Erickson's genius was apparent: as hypnotist, as psychotherapist, as teacher, and as an individual who overcame tremendous lifelong physical handicaps - in fact, made use of them - to develop his distinctive approach to psychotherapy. Then, an illuminating section on The Ericksonian Approach shows how Erickson parted from traditional psychotherapeutic approaches to make his own contributions to theory and practice. Zeig here describes basic elements of Ericksonian Psychotherapy. In the next section on Experiences with Milton Erickson, Zeig reports in detail his personal therapy supervision with Erickson and the unique teaching methods utilized by Erickson. It presents the transcript of the first three full days Zeig spent learning from Erickson who described and discussed a number of previously unreported cases.
