As a primary bibliography this book does not replace the still standard 1947 Scott bibliography, from which Whatmore took the majority of his bilbiographical details for Haggard's publications. Worse than repeating Scott's occasional error…s, Whatmore lists but (unlike Scott) does not provide bibliographical details for first U.S. editions, many of which preceded the British editions. Scott's book is uncommon and expensive so Whatmore's book is useful for those who do not have access to Scott. Barron (ed), Fantasy Literature 8-32.
