His paintings have appeared in the Chicago Tribune…, Berkely Books, The Journal of the American Aviation Historical Society, EAA Warbirds Magazine, and in the 60+ books he has authored on military aviation for Squadron/Signal Publications and for ARCO Publishers. He has also authored and published "The Lima Lima Flight Team: The Life and Times of the World's First Civilian six-Ship Formation Aerobatic Team". Lou is a founding member of the famous Lima Lima Flight Team. He is a Life Member of EAA and a former director of the EAA Warbirds of America. He is the current historian of the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association aka: "River Rats". His own website features a wide variety of aircraft paintings, reflecting almost 50 years of work. The Space Shuttle was designed and built by Rockwell International. The first named Enterprise, rolled out of the company's Palmdale, CA, plant 17 Sept 76. Rockwell would build five operational Shuttles, beginning with Columbia, followed by Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour. Filled with specifications, facts, and pictures. This is a very interesting book that, by putting the Info w/Pictures, is Educational as well. Take an in depth look at the developmental history of the famous NASA Space Shuttle using a comprehensive collection of paintings and photographs presented by long time Squadron author Lou Drendel. This 80 page book includes detailed photographs of the cockpit, engines, landing gear, external fuel tank, cargo bay and booster rockets. Features 40 pages of color. Squadron publications provide modelers with in depth developmental histories of famous military aircraft, armor and ships. The books are particularly valuable in determining paint schemes.
