Gift dedication by author, and laid-in, a hand written letter of August 1990 to the same close friend speaking of "editing a rather perverse short story which will be in the second collection" and therefore declining a trip to Eastern Europe. Poems are presented in 3 parts: 1, Letters from the Poet Zhang Jie; 2, In the Longboats with Others; and, 3, View from the Doge's Place. Some of the collection, 1986 Capricorn Poetry Prize winner, were first published elsewhere and in slightly different form. A rich collection . Susan Sonde's longboat boards us all.
