This is a story of actual experiences and events during the last sixty-five years. It covers conservation, hunting, flying, logging, pioneering and predators, especially mountain lions. It begin's with the author's experiences from the time he was eight years old when a cougar chased him for almost half a mile. At nine years old, he shot his first deer with a relic of a gun that should have been in the scrap heap. Joe tells how the Garner family began logging in the early twenties and continued on through to 1960 when helicopter logging was planned and actually started. The tales are many and varied and a strong emphasis is placed on the big cats. There were a large number of cougars on Redonda Island when Joe Garner made his logging plans for the area.
