This book collates laboratory experiments that were actually performed by students in progressive high schools and collegiate preparatory schools in the early 1900s. The manual contains a series of simple yet instructive experiments, and presents suggestions that should be of great value in the preparation or amplification of an electrical course. It indicates how a teacher lacking direct current electricity service may effectively use an alternating current source to safely transform to direct current using a Nodon valve and electrolytic rectifier. The manual proves that the trend of physics teaching was already towards the practical application of fundamental principles back then. It also indicates that laboratory work requiring the use of precision instruments, such as ammeters and voltmeters among others, may be successfully performed by young students of either sex. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
