It begins by tracing the history of English translations back to the 14th century. The author then examines the process of producing the 1611 Authorized Version. The author argues that the Authorized Version requires amendment. The author discusses the challenges involved in revising the Authorized Version, including the need to balance fidelity to the original text with the need to use language that is accessible to modern readers. The author concludes by proposing that a body of learned scholars be appointed to undertake a revision of the Authorized Version. This book will be of interest to anyone who is interested in the history of the Bible, the English language, or the process of translation.
