This book compares the play activities of children with those of several indigenous groups, such as the Veddahs, Australians, Bushmen, Yahgans, and Eskimos, through the lens of genetic psychology. By applying systematic comparative methods, the author presents insights into the complexities of physical and mental development of both children and adults. The analysis suggests that both groups, children and indigenous adults, demonstrate similarities in physical expression and social characteristics. However, over time, substantial differentiation has occurred, resulting in higher levels of abstraction and intellectual capacity among civilized children. This book provides a framework for understanding the complex relationship between biology and psychology, with significant implications for education and psychology.
