This book chronicles the remarkable life and mission undertaken by Frederick Coombs, a pioneer and renowned inventor who spent four decades working to positively impact the lives of countless Americans. The author, through Coombs' personal writings, photographs, and endorsements, offers a captivating account of philanthropy and innovation in both the artistic and scientific realms. Coombs' pioneering spirit is documented through his establishment of the first telegraph demonstrations, his establishment of Daguerreian and phrenology studios in California during the Gold Rush, and his work to establish a network of marriage and land procurement for the needy. The narrative provides a rich insight into the lives and personalities of those who were transformed by the author's benevolent efforts, as well as the social and technological conditions of both the United States and Australia in the mid-19th century.
