The author analyzes references to the Session in scripture, creeds, and formularies, showing how various Christian writers and theologians interpreted the concept. Detailed examination of the Old Testament and New Testament reveals three primary associations with the idea of session: rest, honor, and sovereignty. The author demonstrates how the doctrine of the Session is intricately connected with Christ's Priesthood and Intercession, showing how the early Church Fathers understood these concepts as part of Christ's redemptive work. The book concludes by considering the broader significance of the Session, highlighting its importance in understanding Christ's divine nature and humanity as well as its implications for Christian worship and living.
