Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book provides one of the first systematic investigations into the physical properties of the mineral molybdenite. The work of the author is one of the keystones of a foundation upon which much of our current understanding of photoelectricity is built. The author explores the optical and electrical properties of molybdenite in an attempt to ascertain the connection between photosensitivity and optical absorption. The text establishes that photoconductivity is highly selective in the visible spectrum, decreasing from 46% at 0.5u, to a much lower value at 1u, beyond which the reflectivity is fairly uniform. The author also discovered that with increasing intensity, the region of maximum photosensitivity shifts from the visible spectrum towards the infra-red. This book not only provides an illuminating study of the physical properties of this mineral but has laid the ground for much subsequent study in the electrical and optical properties of materials at large. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
