The book is a comprehensive guide to the principles of logic and reasoning, intended to help readers develop their critical thinking skills and arrive at accurate conclusions in their pursuit of truth. The book is divided into four main parts, each of which explores a different aspect of logical reasoning. The first part introduces the basic principles of logic, including definitions, propositions, and syllogisms. The second part delves into the art of reasoning, discussing the different types of arguments and how to evaluate them. The third part focuses on the practical application of logic, providing guidance on how to use logical reasoning to solve problems and make decisions. The final part of the book explores the relationship between logic and other fields of study, including mathematics, philosophy, and theology.Throughout the book, Watts emphasizes the importance of using reason and logic to arrive at the truth, rather than relying on tradition, authority, or personal biases. He also stresses the need for clear and precise thinking, and provides numerous examples and exercises to help readers develop their logical skills. Overall, ''Logic or the Right Use of Reason in the Inquiry after Truth'' is a timeless classic that remains relevant today as a guide to critical thinking and logical reasoning. It is a must-read for anyone interested in philosophy, logic, or the pursuit of truth.1825. With a variety of rules to guard against error in the affairs of religion and human life, as well as in the sciences. Watts, English theologian and hymn writer, became tutor in the family of Sir John Hartopp at Stoke Newington, where it is assumed he prepared the materials of his two scholarly works Logic, or the Right Use of Reason in the Enquiry after Truth, and The Knowledge of the Heavens and the Earth Made Easy, or the First Principles of Geography and Astronomy Explained.
