The book challenges the validity of Euclid's Axiom XI, which states that parallel lines never meet. Bolyai argues that this axiom is not a necessary truth and that there are other possible geometries in which parallel lines do intersect. He develops a new system of geometry, known as non-Euclidean geometry, which is based on the assumption that parallel lines can intersect. Bolyai's work was groundbreaking and had a profound impact on the development of modern mathematics and physics. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in the history and philosophy of mathematics. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.…
