It names 152 places across 206 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries two maps and twenty-five diagrams.The diary opens at Braine on 13 September 1914. 1914 is spent at Braine. 1915 at Steenvoorde, Mont Noir, Bertry and Bulford. 1916 at Bus-Les-Artois, Courcelles Au-Bois, Westoutre, Courcelles Au 0 Bois and Bray. 1917 at Arras, Ecoust, Lebucquiere and Warlus. 1918 at Labeuvriere, Boisleux-Au-Mont, Hamelincourt, Wancourt and Nancourt. 1919 at Cologne, Braunsfeld and Duren. It closes at Braunsfeld on 31 October 1919. Cologne is where it spent longest, 305 days across five separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 153 and it came back to Arras eight separate times.In 1915 it is also recorded at Amesbury, Rouen, Aulnoy and Noirchain.
