Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Last Call is a book of poems that explores the journey and search for our elusive God. This is the journey of the soul, and the search is joined through the intimacies of everyday experiences, the confusions of relationships, the ever-present struggle with aging and mortality, and the wanderings amid the mysteries of faith. These poems reflect that, even in our uncertainty and not-knowing, we are continually summoned to live with an abiding sense of gratitude. That is the way home.''Logan Jones expresses and confesses what few are able to do. His poem about lightning striking and destroying his home breaks into unrestrained prose, yet remains poetic. He looks back on himself as a child, able to see the world again through a child's eyes. He gives the words 'mercy' and 'kindness' rare texture. I have read and re-read his poems. I am never disappointed.''Dick Hester, professor of pastoral theology, retired''The poetry of Last Call is an invitation to trust the power of the everyday in our lives. Logan Jones's willingness to engage the mundane to the traumatic entices us to join him on the journey. Beautiful.''Carole Somers-Clark, retired UMC clergy''Jones's words shine with quiet integrity as he wrestles with a holy longing. This is the longing of an easily misunderstood and often caricatured creature: the aging, white, middle-class male living in postmodern, post-Christian America. Who does he love, what does he stand for, where is his God This book offers eloquent questions for which there are no easy answers.''Suzanne W. Luper, Pastoral Counselor''As a male, husband, father, minister, and limited human being, I was touched by this volume of poetry. . . . He made me laugh, feel my tears, and be inspired. Whether I was revisiting my training in a state hospital mental ward, viewing the vista from a mountaintop, or being reminded of my limited ability to keep everyone safe, I connected with the experiences Jones puts to paper. . . . I was swept away by the images and savored each delicious offering.''David C. Johnson, Director, Spiritual Care and Education, Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NCLogan C. Jones, EdD, is a Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education and works in a hospital as chaplain and Director of Pastoral Care Services. Ordained in the Moravian Church in America, he is the author of No Man's Land: Poems (2014) and several articles on pastoral care and pastoral supervision. He and his wife live in Raleigh, North Carolina.…
