What's unique about this narration is the collaboration that this psychopath develops with his girlfriend. She, in a kind of "Stockholm syndrome" frenzy, mimics the protagonist in his insanity and starts helping him capture his victims, while concurrently the two of them plan for a family in the immediate future. The narrative voice is merciless with the reader, since it shirks from no details and goes deeper and deeper into the psyche of the killer, while denouncing all the vices of modern day Chile: xenophobia, homophobia, class differences, rejection of minorities, to name a few.
