This book delves into the development and methodology of the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP), a collaborative effort to create a universal standard for product data exchange. The book provides a comprehensive overview of STEP's framework, methodology, and key concepts, including a discussion of its origins, evolution, and significance within the broader context of product data exchange standards. The author analyzes the issues pertaining to an Application Protocol (AP) Framework and provides recommendations for such a framework, encompassing functional requirements, elements of AP structure, coordination of AP development, and AP classification. The book also explores the relationship between AP development, scope, and structure, and examines the role of AP teams in the process.
