In its original Greek form it had a direct influence on the writers of the New Testament. This book was also referred to by Origen and used by the Church father, Irenaeus. It was read by, and considered valuable, by the heretics of the day in addition to mainstream Christians. This may be one reason why it was excluded from the Bible.
