Responding to God's call, he gave up his job and attended Perkins School of Theology, at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas for his Master of Divinity.He was appointed pastor of First Filipino American United Methodist Church for 27 consecutive years until he retired in 2012.They have two children who are both married; Ruth Esther McCollum, also an RN, and married to Daniel; and David Saul, who is a Realtor, married to Alicia.
