Thematisch umfasst die Reihe linguistische Arbeiten zu Kontext, Sprachgebrauch und Prozessen der sprachlichen Positionierung von Akteuren in verschiedenen Sprachräumen und in unterschiedlichen sozialen, kulturellen, ästhetischen sowie historischen Zusammenhängen. Die Reihe ist in mehrfacher Hinsicht integrativ und überschreitet innerdisziplinäre Grenzziehungen.
