Nach ei nem Boom von Li teratur und Forschungsprojekten zur Freizeitproblematik in den 70er Jahren ist es wi eder sehr vi e 1 ru…hi ger darum geworden. Auf der internat i ona 1 en Ebene spiegelt sich dieses Bild wider. Oie große Euphorie in puncto Freizeit, der große Run auf die 'Freizeitgesellschaft', der Drang nach Verbesserung der Chancen verschiedener sozialer Gruppen in der Freizeit scheint durch eine eher resignative Stimmungslage ersetzt worden zu sein: Oie wirt schaftlichen Krisen in den westlichen Industrieländern mit ihren hohen Raten an Arbeitslosen sowie der Notwendigkeit, Arbeit neu zu definieren und zu verteilen, lassen die Arbeit im Mittelpunkt des Interesses stehen, obwohl gl eichzeitig auch vom Bedeutungsverl ust der Arbeit die Rede ist. Jedenfalls sind Freizeitkonzepte z. Zt. weniger gefragt. Was die wissenschaftliche Seite der Freizeit anbetrifft, so zeigen die letzten 10 Jahre Freizeitforschung keine wesentlichen Fortschritte. Dies mag auch ein Indikator dafür sein, daß sich die Freizeitforschung in einer stagnierenden Phase befindet. Auch hier bietet die ausländische Literatur kein anderes Bild, keine neueren Impulse. Wir sind dennoch der Meinung, daß heute der Zeitpunkt für eine erneute Bestandsaufnahme günstig ist; günstig, weil sich die Gesellschaft heute in einem Umbruch befindet, - Freizeit wird in absehbarer Zeit wieder an Bedeutung gewinnen, Tendenzen in diese Richtung sind unverkennbar -, günstig weiterhin, weil Konzepte dafür benötigt werden.Vieweg+Teubner Verlag, Abraham-Lincoln-Straße 46, 65189 Wiesbaden 296 pp. Deutsch.
