The classical approach to large-scale metrology consists in the use of centralized measurement systems. A centralized system is essentially a stand alone unit working independently to provide dimensional measurement. Often it is difficult to move and its working volume is inevitably limited by the technology used. This book arises from the research activity developed on a new system prototype for large-scale dimensional measurement. The Mobile Spatial coordinate Measuring System (MScMS) is composed by several metrology stations that are lightweight, portable, adaptable to different working environments. These devices can be positioned in the desired layout providing unique features of flexibility to the systems.
