This issue is particularly significant because in the absence of the value that supports the existence of privacy laws, efforts to enact such laws are likely to remain of little or no significance. The second issue is to what extent privacy is regulated in the sub-region. The third set of issue dealt in this book investigates the influence of foreign law in the development of privacy laws in sub-Saharan Africa. The EU data protection regime is the point of departure.
