Considering these aspects, the current study was conducted among interns of a Medical College, for assessing the environment favorable to learning and evaluating the effectiveness of rural internship training programme. It concluded that rural internship programme was effective in delivering the knowledge and skills to interns but it fails to motivate the interns to work in rural area in future. The poor physical infrastructure of rural centre was the main hurdle for avoiding the rural postings. It is recommended to strengthen rural health centre in terms of infrastructure. The teaching has to task oriented to arouse the interest and glamorize by incentives and good facility to motivate them to work in rural areas.…
