Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Background & Objective: Since calcium has got importance in physiology and the objective of the present study is to study the effect of different calcium channel blockers through i.c.v administration on gastric and duodenal ulcers. Methods: The effect of different calcium channel blockers on gastric and duodenal ulcers were evaluated by using different experimental models such as acetic acid induced chronic gastric ulcer, pylorus ligation induced gastric ulcers, ethanol induced gastric ulcers, stress induced gastric ulcers, and cysteamine induced duodenal ulcers. In all these models the common parameter determined was ulcer index. Results: The nickel salt and verapamil a significant effect on ulcer healing in acetic acid induced ulcer model, -agatoxin did not show any significant effect on ulcer healing. The treatment groups showed a significant reduction in ulcer index in other models. Only -agatoxin did not showed significant increase in mucin compared to other treatment groups.
