Pathos als Distanz. Nicht im Sinne eines Vergleichs wie 'Ich esse lieber Äpfel als Birnen', sondern als Verwandlung des einen Begriffs in den anderen und ihres sich wechselseitigen Bedingens. Aus Pathos wird Distanz und diese Distanz wird zur Vorbedingung, um Pathos zuzulassen. Mühes Sujets sind häufig mehrdeutig,bereits emotional und durch ihren jeweils historischen Kontext aufgeladen: Weihnachtsbäume, Kanzler, Kreidefelsen auf Rügen, der Obersalzberg.Andreas Mühe kommt aus einem theatralischen Haushalt und hat auch ein Stückchen auf der Mauer getanzt, als sie fiel. Diesem Umbruch verdankt er es mit Gegensätzen groß geworden zu sein, in Widersprüchen zu denken und einen Hauch von Dialektik anstelle der fehlenden Muttermilch aufgesogen zu haben. Darin sieht er den Ursprung seines Vermögens, immer wieder die Perspektive zu wechseln und Pathos in Distanz zu verwandeln.Die Fotografien von Andreas Mühe werden von Textauszügen des Romans 1913 - Der Sommer des Jahrhunderts von Florian Illies begleitet.
