Small-angle scattering allows one tostudy the structure of a variety of objects such as solutions ofbiological macromolecules, nanocomposites, alloys, synthetic polymersetc. Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and small-angle neutronscattering (SANS) are the two complementary techniques known jointly assmall-angle scattering (SAS). SAS is an analogous method to X-ray andneutron diffraction, wide angle X-ray scattering as well as to staticlight scattering. In separation to the other X-ray and neutronscattering methods, SAS yields information on the sizes and shapes ofboth crystalline and non-crystalline particles.
