Two major techniques in digital image processing were employed. Principle objective of Image enhancement is to process an image so that result is more suitable than original image for specific application. Digital image enhancement techniques provide a multitude of choices for improving the visual quality of images. Appropriate choice of such techniques is greatly influenced by the imaging modality, task at hand and viewing conditions .They are preprocessing and enhancement, and their constituent treatment processes. Three different enhancement techniques are applied. Firstly using histogram equalization followed by contrast stretch using blockproc function and later Decorrelation stretch. The results are compared using the mean, median and standard deviation value of the three bands and later conclusions are made with respect to this value. The enhanced image is further used to find the vegetation indices. Finding the Normalised difference vegetation index we can get the information regarding vegetative areas, water bodies etc.
