Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Insecticides are continuously being used throughout the world in agricultural fields to control insect pests and subsequently to increase productivity. The book deals with the effects of some commonly used insecticides in West Beng…al, India when applied at doses which have been recommended by the manufacturer for use in agricultural fields to selected species of nontarget soil organism, i.e epigeic earthworms which are widely used as model organisms for ecological risk assessment of polluted soil. Determination of acute toxicity of these insecticides were done and application of their sub-lethal doses under laboratory conditions to record their effect on physiological parameters, viz, rate of reproduction, biomass change and rate of respiration as well as their impact on biochemical parameters of the test organisms viz, enzymatic activities were done. The effect of the selected insecticides on activities of enzymes, i.e Acid and Alkaline Phosphatase and Acetylcholine Esterase indicated their possible role for use as bioindicator for toxicity assessment . Field experiments were carried out to validate the data generated in the laboratory experiments. 136 pp. Englisch.
