Neuware -A subsurface characterisation was carried out with the Georadar technique in the Caracas valley, specifically in the vicinity of the Caracas Metro. During the Georadar acquisition campaign, geological information was compiled in order to characterise the subsoil at the highest possible resolution, emphasising the subsoil architecture and delimiting fluids in the subsoil. At Las Mercedes, subsurface geometry was determined and the GPR results were correlated with previous soil studies in the area. At the Miguel Angel service station, several hydrocarbon plumes were detected along the gas pipeline and in the vicinity of the petrol pumps, and the displacement of some reflectors was identified, associating this phenomenon with a possible fault. The GPR technique demonstrated good performance in the determination of subsurface architectures and in the delineation of subsurface fluids, the variety of antennas makes GPR very versatile if a wide range of shielded and unshielded antennas are available.VDM Verlag, Dudweiler Landstraße 99, 66123 Saarbrücken 68 pp. Englisch.
