Die Steuerung des CSTR ist aufgrund seines komplexen nichtlinearen Verhaltens schwierig. Die Parameter des Reaktors wie Konzentration und Tem…peratur sind beide unsicher, sodass der CSTR eine Störung im Bereich aufweist. Für die Störungsunterdrückung muss ein Regler entworfen werden. PID ist ein Regler mit Rückkopplung und seine Implementierung ist einfach, sodass er in Steuerungssystemanwendungen weit verbreitet ist. Die PID-Regelung versucht, die Abweichung zwischen dem gemessenen und dem gewünschten Ausgang durch Manipulation der Prozesssteuerungseingaben zu reduzieren. Drei Parameter Kp, Kd, Ki werden angepasst, um den Sollwert zu erreichen. Die modellprädiktive Regelung (MPC) ist eine fortschrittliche Computersteuerungstechnik.
