Alla fine degli studi ha già scalato le principali pareti delle Dolomiti e delle Alpi e all'età di ventun anni diventa guida alpina. Parallelamente a questa professione, che esercita quasi a tempo pieno, Pietro continua a frequentare le montagne durante tutte le stagioni e sulle pareti dolomitiche firma alcune delle più belle salite, in tutti gli stili. Quello di Pietro è un alpinismo pulito, mosso dalla voglia di vivere il mondo verticale e non da quella di produrre imprese. Tra le sue tante imprese spiccano la via Zauberlehrling alla Cima Scotoni, una delle più difficili solitarie di tutti tempi in Dolomiti e l'apertura in Patagonia di Pepe Rajo, la prima via sulla parete nord del Cerro Piergiorgio. In Ratikon, nel 1999, firma la terza ripetizione di Silbergeier in tre giorni, che ancora oggi è una fra le più veloci salite, e sei anni dopo firma la prima ripetizione dell'ancora più difficile Die Unendliche Geschichte. E in Sardegna la prima salita in libera di Hotel Supramonte, due tra le più belle e impegnative vie a più tiri al mondo. Adam Ondra: la sua incredibile capacità di superare i limiti sportivi, lo fa catalogare come il più forte arrampicatore di tutti i tempi. Ha iniziato a scalare all'incirca nello stesso momento in cui ha imparato a camminare e da allora non si è mai fermato. Soprannominato "l'Alieno", unisce magnetismo, rigorosa etica sportiva e curiosità nei confronti delle falesie del mondo.
