A turningpointinthisdevelopmentwasreachedintheearlypartofthesecondhalfinthe twentycenturywhenspecialattentiontoheattransferinporousmediayieldedan- ceedingexpansionofinterest.Thisdevelopmentcontinuedinthetwenty rstcentury and reached recently such an impressive use in a diverse collection oftechnological applications that created the motivation behind the preparation of this book.
