Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Flora Telluriana (Part I) is a rare surviving voice of nineteenth century natural history from the restless mind of Prof. Rafinesque. A vivid survey of plants. Part botanical reference work and part plant species catalog, it records an early American flora with a taxonomic boldness rooted in pre-darwinian science. Rafinesque's prose ranges from concise specimen notes to personal reflection, an alternation that gives the book its human edge and makes observation feel immediate rather than abstract. Read as a piece of 1800s scientific literature, it offers the energy of discovery, the occasional idiosyncrasy of naming, and the evident joy of close looking. As a historical botany text, Flora Telluriana rewards casual readers drawn to close observation and to the occasional eccentricity of early naturalists, while also functioning as a strong academic research resource. Its records of native plants of America and its adventurous plant species catalog provide primary material for those studying 1800s scientific literature, and for botanists tracing how names and ideas circulated before Darwin. Fans of classic botanical authors will find Rafinesque's voice bracingly original, and collectors of rare books or anyone assembling a flora telluriana collection will value this edition for its provenance, its scholarship and its place in the history of classification. It is particularly useful to practising taxonomists and historians of science seeking primary descriptions to compare with modern treatments, and it offers lively, citation-ready material for courses and independent study.Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure. Carefully prepared for modern reading and careful study, this edition preserves the character of the original while making it straightforward to consult for reference or pleasure. Editorial apparatus gently explains obsolete names and situates observations without flattening the style, so the book remains both a usable academic resource and an atmospheric companion for anyone fascinated by early American flora. For scholars, inquisitive readers and collectors of rare books alike, this is a heritage volume to be read, cited and cherished.…
