Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Presumed First Edition (NAP). Signed on the title page by the author ( 'Sincerely, Lawrence Murphy' ). This book came from the library of John J. McCoy. He did not write his name in the book. Actually, I think it's more likely that it was owned by his son, John J. McCloy II, as he is referenced on two pages in the book as a board member at the University. You can see the blue covers of the book in the photos provided. They are very clean. The gilt lettering on the front and spine is quite bright. The edges and corners are in very good shape. There is a small dent at the top edge of the front cover, a little creasing at the spine ends. All three page edges are very clean. The book is square and very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The inside covers and end papers form the same illustration. They're all in very nice shape. The interior of the book is in excellent condition. The pages are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I'm not finding any soiling at all. There are great many photographs, both in color and black-and-white. They all appear to be in excellent condition. I found a handful of consecutive pages where the very tip of the bottom corner got folded in. I flattened them out and there's a tiny crease left at their tips. I'm not seeing any conspicuous creasing, no placeholder corner creases. There are no markings. No attachments. And with the exception of the author's signature, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. Despite being white it is exceptionally clean. It doesn't have any tears. It does have a n imprint of a paper clip off its front top edge, also one crease on its spine and another below the rear top corner. It has a little crinkling at the top edge of the spine. The white flaps are also very clean. There is a very small crease just off the top edge of the front flap. The jacket is not priced or clipped. It will be fitted into a large protective cover after the photos scanned. 'This history of the American University in Cairo is not only the story of an important institution of higher education, but a chronicle of an important era of Middle East history.
