Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Dr. Elizabeth Wallace was a rising star in the field of pre-Columbian archeology until she deciphered an ancient Inca tablet that described "visitors who were not of this world". The stone tablet included an image of someone who looked very much like an astronaut. These strangers were said…to have resided at a place called "Witso' Voladora" or "Flying Mountain." Could this Flying Mountain have been an ancient starship? After having written an article about how ancient aliens may once have visited both the Inca and the Maya, she was ridiculed by the academic mainstream as being nothing more than an autistic "diversity hire". Determined to prove her theory, she traveled up the Amazon in search of Witso' Voladora". After months of searching, she found the ancient wreckage of fighter sized spacecraft. Her effort to study this wreckage was interrupted by the arrival of hostile tribesmen who tried to kill her. Pursued by these tribesmen into an area that they would not enter, she found herself isolated in a hidden valley looking at the hulk of what could only be a lost starship. While exploring this vessel, she inadvertently activated a portal and found herself transported one hundred and thirty-four years back in time to Victorian England. Having been lost in time, Elizabeth must now find a way to survive. Her only way home would be to raise the funds that would be needed to cross the Atlantic and to again journey up the Amazon in hopes of again finding the lost starship Witso' Voladora. This goal was easier said than done because women during the Victorian period were expected (by men) to have feminine virtues that included "knowing their place," while also being homemakers and caregivers. Respectable women did not raise funds to finance an expedition. They also most certainly did not trek up the Amazon. This item is printed on demand.
