They are also known as Majorero Dogs and Perro Bardino Majorero. The Guanches, the original inhabitants of the Canary Islands, are credited with giving rise to this breed, so named for them. The island of Fuerteventura, which inspired the breed's name, was formerly known as "Maxorata" or "Majorero."- The medium-sized Perro Majorero dog breed is known for its distinct appearance. Their bodies are powerful and muscular, their backs are straight, and their short coats come in a variety of fawn and brindle colors. Their protective and loyal nature makes them great guard dogs and companions.- The Guanches historically relied on these dogs to herd goats and sheep as well as for protection. They are noted for their intelligence and flexibility, making them well-suited to the rough and arid terrain of the Canary Islands. In recent years, efforts have been undertaken to preserve and promote the Perro Majorero as a part of the cultural legacy of the Canary Islands, and the breed is recognized by several kennel clubs and organizations. Those who can appreciate their heritage and are searching for a loyal and protective canine companion will find one in these dogs. This item is printed on demand.
