The Introduction is by Major-General C. B. Dougherty, of the Pennsylvania National Guard. It appeared originally as 'An Ambulance Driver in France' which was privately printed in 1918 at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania' (History of the American Field Service in France: 'Friends of France' 1914-1917).
